LET’s TALK!! Do You Still Believe “Nigeria Will Be Better” Abi You Don Give Up?

I have tried many times to write about the government but it’s either I left the write-up in my notepad or just trashed it due to several reasons.

The reasons are not far-fetched; if I write the way I feel, I might end up in the prison and become a victim, no wonder many people are not talking about the brutality, intimidation, and abuse of human rights on the government part.

Why waste my time and resources to talk about what wouldn’t count anyway. Even the courageous citizens that tried to demonstrate their fundamental human right by protesting are being brutalized, victimized, or killed.

All these got me wondering if there is still hope for a better Nigeria or all hope is lost already.

Where Is The Hope?

It baffled me that if at this tender age of mine and as a Political Scientist, hope is getting lost 😔 maybe it’s because my generation never enjoyed enough or anything from the government.

I could remember, from 1998 till 2014 world cup, we didn’t watch a single full match in my house in Abeokuta with government electricity and it has become a norm to either dig borehole, well, or be ready to fetch water from the river (no portable drinking water).

Don’t even let us dwell on security challenges in the country where Fulani herdsmen kidnap and kill at will, where Boko haram are still champions in Sambisa forest.

A fair transparent Judicial system represents a bedrock of any democracy. But we all know what happened to #EndSARS protesters’ bank accounts.

We all know now that the re-opening of the toll-gate to begin commercial activity is more important than getting justice for people who died from Lekki Shooting.

I’m still searching my mind for good things to write about this government of Nigeria and then it’s still a rhetorical question is there is hope for Democracy in Nigeria.

In short, Nigeria can kill you faster than #COVID19 and that’s why many people already lost hope in a better Nigeria because I don’t understand Nigeria will be better with democracy constantly under threat.

Guys, let’s hear from you on this matter 👇
