Ibrahim Attahiru (born August 10, 1966) is a Major General and Chief of Army Staff of Federal Republic of Nigeria, appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on 26 January, 2021.
He is from Kaduna North of Kaduna State, and a member of the Regular Course 35 of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
He was General Officer Commanding 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu prior to his appointment as Chief of Army Staff. In 2017, he was ordered by the then Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai to destroy Boko Haram and capture Abubakar Shekau, its leader dead or alive. He reportedly failued this mission and was removed from his post.

The Nigeria new chief of army staff Attahiru in July 2017 was sacked as the theatre commander of the joint task force for failing to capture the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, by his predecessor, Tukur Buratai.

Like I said yesterday, the only reasonable thing Muhammadu Buhari have ever done since he became president of Nigeria was sacking all the incompetent serving Chiefs of staffs. Although he should have included himself on the list..because he’s the chief of all incompetencies and failures in history.
Sacking LT-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai and appoint Ibrahim Attahiru is like jumping from frying pan to fire. A man who got sacked for failure to destroy Boko Haram and capture Abubakar Shekau, its leader dead or alive, is now appointed as chief of army what? To do what exactly?
