December 17 is going to be a big day in world football as FIFA will award the best player of this crazy year 2020 🏆
11 players were originally selected in a list which included Virgil van Dijk, Mane and Neymar… However the list was trimmed to a final 3 – Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus).
Poland striker Lewandowski is heavy favourite for the award after he scored an impressing 56 goals in 49 matches and also guided his club to an incredible treble which included the Champions League, beating Barcelona 8 – 2 en-route to the final last season.
He will face competition from Messi who is the reigning holder of the prize but had a disappointing last season where he failed to win a trophy with Barcelona amid uncertainty about his future with the club.
The final man on the list is Ronaldo who remains a prolific striker for his present club Juventus. He won a second consecutive Serie A title with Juve last season.
