TRANSFER LATEST!! Man United Still Planning To Sign RB Leipzig Defender Dayot Upamecano

The player the Red Devils are believed to be targeting is RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

Upamecano, 21, has emerged as one of German football’s standout centre-backs over the last couple of seasons.
All told, the Frenchman has already garnered 113 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig, including several impressive displays in the Champions League.
Such commanding displays at such a young have, understandably, appeared to piqued the interest of several top clubs.
All of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have previously been named as parties interested in the stopper.
However, any hopes teams had of securing the centre-back’s services this summer looked to have been dashed in late July when Upamecano extended his stay at Leipzig until 2023.
Despite the 21-year-old signing a new deal just a month ago, Manchester United still appear to be trying to lure Upamecano to Old Trafford this summer.
As per a report from ESPN on Monday:
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is targeting RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano to bolster his defensive options at Manchester United.
It is added that Solskjaer is prioritising the addition of a top-quality centre-back to play alongside Harry Maguire, with Upamecano understood to be the top target.
The report from ESPN also mentioned Upamecano’s new deal which, according to reports in Germany, has a release clause of €42m.
However, said clause cannot be activated until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
Despite this, Solskjaer is understood to want to sign the Leipzig standout in this window.
