Misplaced Priority…
Some days back, the Arewa group begs FG to ban porn and dating sites from Nigeria’s cyberspace completely. That individuals or companies that refuses to comply with the ban should be fined.
They wrote,
“We resolved to write to you as concerned citizens to call on your quick intervention in blocking sexual and immorality related sites in the Nigerian cyberspace to sanitise the reckless behaviour and continuous immoral engagements among youths for sustainable development and progress of our societies”.
To me personally, I see this as a misplaced priority. The AREWA GROUP should stop using the internet instead. Porn Sites cannot be banned because of few individuals that thinks they have a say over everything and everyone in the country.
Nigeria has no national laws prohibiting pornography, although the public display of graphic sexual material is illegal in Lagos.
They overlooked the bad government and the reckless leadership of incompetent Buhari, to tackle things that doesn’t matter.
The internet cannot be Regulated in this present world. There must be a way to break in.
Ban porn and dating sites off the Nigerian cyber space today and people will start using VPN to surf the web. And nobody can control that, not even the government. You don’t have the right to anybody’s phone or computer to know what they’re doing.
So I see the AREWA GROUP request as a misplaced priority and usual social media rants.
