Billionaire daugther, Dj Cuppy has released her debut album dubbed “Original Jollof” which consists of 12 tracks to presents her image to the world
The shocking fact about this album is that none of its track reaches 3 minutes. Proper timing! 👍
Let’s summarise each song and rate the album as a whole
The song is reviewed accordingly on the tracklist. 👇
1 Epe ft Efya
“I’m looking forward express myself in different sounds but I wanna make sure in every track, am integrating my own DNA” She addresses everyone as this is more of an introduction track. She spices the track up with an instrumental to unbored it for listeners.
As she named the intro track “Epe”, this directly means she’s been raised in Epe, Lagos, before moving to London at the age of 13 according to Wikipedia.
2 Jollof On The Jet ft Rema & Rayvanny
All the way from Tanzania, Rayvanny show the billion’s daugther love to feature in her album alongside with Nigerian fast-rising star, Rema.
This is a top-notch as the delivery of the song is 100%.
You’d definitely like how Rema start the tune with his asian tune “girl you dey ginger me, you dey confuse me” and the way Cuppy comes in with chorus “oya pass the jollof, jollof on the jet, party jollof, jollof on the jet”.
3 Wale ft Wyclef Jean
This is just a vibe, I swear a full vibe which every music listeners would definitely carry the body.
The song is categorized as a party tune, no dulling moment at all. I intentionally don’t wanna put any lyrics here for you. I want you to listen to it yourself and thank me later.
4 Feel Good ft Fireboy
You already know Fireboy is a complete talent and he will never fail us especially on a beat produced by P.Prime. But I had good and bad news on this track.
The good news is, the song is a potential jam and the bad news is DJ Cuppy is not on the song.
5 Cold Heart Killer ft Darkoo
This is a song recommended for love as she featured South London based, Nigerian born female singer Darkoo.
Darkoo is also a rapper and you can enjoy that diversity as she switches to rap lane.
6 Original Copy (Interlude)
What a surprise!
DJ Cuppy came like Nikky Minaj and Cardi B, the same energy! You won’t believe she switched to rap.
The amazing thing is that she killed the beat. “I’m like, move, chale, move, chale, I got the groove, chale, the juice, chale”.
7 Karma ft Stonebouy
Both Cuppy and Stonebouy really did well in this track and I can attest this collaboration is a perfect one.
Just like the title “Karma”, they both dropped a perfect lyrics which depict the title.
8 Litty Lit ft Teni
Makanaki on this one, the song arrangement really bursts my brain as it comes as the 8 tracks on the list.
As the interception of the interlude of Original Copy and Karma which sounds like average songs. Litty Lit featuring Teni brings the album back to life.
Are you expecting me to drop some lyrics here? You no go see, am sorry.
9 54 ft Darmian Marley & Sir Shina Peter
This is just a typical African tune as it was mix with a traditional beat and Nigerian local “omele drum”.
Her verse on it sat well as she already knows what to lay being an African image. Convening Darmian Marley and Sir Shina Peter is a perfect round-up of such a project.
10 Guilty Pleasure ft Nonso Amadi
“‘Cause e dey sweet me, I dunno what to do (Yeah, yeah), Guilty pleasure (Yeah, yeah)”.
Nonso Amadi’s collaboration with the billionaire’s daugther can’t be overlooked as she’s entangled in love with her lover.
For many of you anxious about Cuppy’s relationship, this is song is a reply for you all.
11 P.O.Y ft Ycee, Ms Banks
Again, Dj Cuppy leaves this for Nigerian rappers Ycee and Ms Banks to chop off.
A needful track to balance an album of a feminine melodious voice.
12 Labalaba ft Sheyi Shay
A signing out song, “Labalaba” linking up with Nigerian international female singer, Sheyi Shay.
Signing out in all angles, be it in a relationship, at work, or anywhere you meet you yourself.
“I say bye bye to jagajaga, Bye bye to jati jati, Like a labalaba, Like a labalaba”.
Our Say On This Album
Unlike Dj Khalid, Nigerians don’t largely appreciate music project coming from a Disc Jockey. Dj Xclusive, Dj Spinall and so many aren’t getting enough attention and streams on their albums.
But DJ Cuppy’s case seems to look different as she obviously has talent in being a singer not just mixing songs.
You’ll agree with me that Dj Cuppy always has her own verse on every of her single, unlike other Nigerian Deejays.
Her personal contribution makes the album looks ORIGINAL that’s where she got the title “Original Copy” from, I guess.
Our rating on the album 6/10 ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
