The rate at which armed robbers are terrorizing Lagos and Ogun where lockdown is ongoing is alarming.
It’s quite unfortunate that this whole lockdown thing got to the point that some Nigerian youths turned themselves to thieves in the night and afternoon.
Can We Blame The Government?
At a point, it seemed like the whole thing is happening just because the government refuses to take food and armed security seriously during this lockdown period.
In a country where people are forced to stay at home in a bid to control the damage of a virus, it is expected that both Federal and State governments work hand-in-hand to provide enough food for people to eat.
Of course, attempts to distribute food were made but can it ever be enough? The answer is NO!!
But communication is key if only the government had done well enough to inform the general public of where the distribution has reached and other places remaining, everyone could remain calm and collected.
Should The Blame Go To The Youths Who Have Gone Into Armed Robbery?
It’s easier to point hands at the government but we’ve all forgotten that we as people need to play our own roles well.
Findings had it that most youths into armed robbery are members of the community they have chosen to terrorize and steal from.
A victim of armed robbery attack during this lockdown narrated how the robbers were saying that he is a kind man in the neighborhood and doesn’t deserved to be robbed but got wounded and robbed eventually.
Why is it that our people cannot decide to be morally upright despite any situation. Obviously, hunger doesn’t kill as much as COVID-19.
