Lagos Calls For Social Distancing In Worship Centres

The Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Elegushi, has urged the leaders of all worship centres in the state to continue to maintain the social distancing rule among their members.

Elegushi stated this at a press briefing at the JJT Park, Alausa, Ikeja, a statement said on Sunday.
The commissioner, who noted that before the Federal Government’s lockdown directive, religious leaders in the state had agreed to shut down their worship centres and restrain worshippers for four weeks. This, he said, was subject to mutual review, stated that the state government would not allow religious gatherings until the medical experts advised otherwise.
He said,
“It is expected that all worship centres would have been disinfected and certified free of the virus before such gatherings will be allowed to reconvene to guarantee the safety of lives.
“The ministry will partner other MDAs to work out modalities of disinfecting worship centres and also facilitating proper training of religious leaders on how to disinfect their centres from time to time and all health instructions given will be implemented at all worship centres throughout the state.
“The state government will ensure that proper hygiene is put in place and social distancing is adhered to in all worship centres and religious gatherings.”
